Dr. Mack Hicks founded one of the first schools in the United States for children with learning disabilities. Too many children were "falling through the cracks" and he was determined to help them.
Today, 12 Center Academy schools are located in Florida and Georgia, and are fully accredited, independent private schools. They provide a college prep curriculum for students with learning disabilities in grades 4 - 12. Staff and teachers are experienced with a range of learning disabilities and challenges, including dyslexia, ADHD and Aspergers.
Dr. Hicks developed individual student assessments to help each student set and reach his or her own personal educational goals. Center Academy schools also offer dual enrollment and summer programs for maximum enrichment. It accepts vouchers and scholarships.
The success of students at Center Academy is evidence that students can succeed if their individual needs are addressed.
